Wellness Is Not One-Size-Fits-All

In the quiet heart of a Minnesota town, Ember Wellness Studio offers a warm, healing space where people can reconnect with their bodies, minds, and inner strength. Founded by Nicole Panko, the studio provides yoga, wellness coaching, and holistic services designed to help clients find balance and build resilience in their daily lives.

Nicole’s journey into entrepreneurship was deeply personal. A certified yoga instructor and wellness advocate, she had long dreamed of creating a place where people could safely explore wellness on their own terms—free of judgment, full of compassion. “Wellness is not one-size-fits-all,” she shared. “I wanted Ember to be a place where people felt empowered, supported, and seen.”

Launching a wellness business came with its own challenges—from managing operational logistics to building visibility in a competitive and often saturated market. Nicole turned to the South Central Minnesota SBDC for guidance.

An Act Of Community Care

“The SBDC helped me find direction and gave me the tools I needed to launch intentionally,” she said. Working with her consultant, she developed a business plan, outlined service packages, and explored creative strategies for client engagement.

Nicole credits the SBDC with helping her take a thoughtful, strategic approach to growth. “They helped me get clear on my goals, assess my financials, and think critically about how to build something sustainable.” She also benefited from legal and marketing advice that gave her more confidence in moving forward.

Since launching, Ember Wellness Studio has become a peaceful and grounding space in the community. Nicole offers group and private yoga sessions, guided meditation, and wellness consultations—all rooted in trauma-informed practice and mindfulness. Her client base has grown steadily, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

One of Nicole’s proudest accomplishments has been cultivating a space that feels both inclusive and welcoming. She sees wellness as an act of community care—and that philosophy shapes every aspect of her business, from the way she designs her classes to how she partners with other local professionals.

“It’s okay to go slow. Listen to your gut, ask for help, and build something that reflects your values.”

Listen To Your Gut

“The SBDC helped me believe in the impact I could have,” she said. “They reminded me that my work matters—and gave me practical support to bring it to life.”

Nicole encourages other entrepreneurs to stay grounded and lean into their purpose. “It’s okay to go slow,” she said. “Listen to your gut, ask for help, and build something that reflects your values.”

To Nicole, being a small business owner in South Central Minnesota means serving the community that raised her—and helping others navigate life with greater presence and intention. As Ember Wellness Studio continues to grow, Nicole hopes to expand her offerings, host retreats, and bring more holistic health practices to the region.
